La primera publicación de las hermanas fue un libro de poemas escrito de manera conjunta y con los pseudónimos de Currer, Ellis y Acton Bell. Al año siguiente, en 1847, las tres escribieron de forma independiente sus novelas más celebres: Charlotte, “Jane Eyre”; Emily, “Cumbres borrascosas” y Anne, “Agnes Grey”.
